Many people often have questions (including inspectors and senior clinical staff) about the use of chaperones in general practice and outpatient settings. This short course will explore the issues around the need for chaperones and consent to examination.
There is an infamous case involving Dr Myles Bradbury, a hospital consultant who was found guilt of abusing children and young people. It is important that all clinical and non-clinical staff understand local chaperone policies and work to protect both staff and patients.
