CP2 If the patient refuses a chaperone

Clients always have the right to decline a chaperone. This may be for personal, religious or cultural reasons. Unfortunately, as you already know, we cannot conduct a scan without a chaperone and the scan cannot proceed.

It may be necessary to offer an alternative appointment, alternative sonographer or chaperone to ensure the client feels more comfortable.

Remember to document that the client has declined a chaperone and this is the reason the scan cannot go ahead.
