CP2 During the examination

  • Ensure the client’s privacy during the scan and when they are dressing and undressing, e.g. using screens and gowns/sheets.
  • The chaperone should be positioned where they can see the client and how the scan is being conducted but not in a way to jeopardise the client’s privacy and dignity.
  • Explain what you (or the sonographer) are going to do before you do it and seek consent if this differs from what you have told the client before.
  • Stop the scan if the client asks you to.
  • Avoiding making any personal remarks.
