CP2 Chaperone role in practice

A chaperone might be:

  • A witness to the continuing consent of the procedure.
  • Someone who can help the sonographer which the examination.
  • Able to act as an interpreter.
  • A safeguard for all parties (patients and practitioners).
  • Someone who will identify unusual or unacceptable behaviour on the part of the healthcare professional.
  • Someone to discourage unfounded allegations of improper behaviour.
