firstScan booking an appointment

The website

Just like Window to the Womb, many clients will choose to identity the service that they require and complete the booking online. Our website displays and explains all packages to make it easy for the client to choose the one most appropriate for them.

Making a booking

There are two ways to make a booking: Online and Telephone. Both methods require the same information and a £30.00 deposit to secure the appointment (the deposit is deducted from the scan total).

  • Online (www.firstscan.co.uk) (www.baby-scan.co.uk):
    • Our intuitive booking system only shows what times are available and allows clients to select a date, time and service.
    • The booking system has an automated payment gateway the allows the client to pay their deposit with a credit/debit card.
    • An email with be sent confirming the appointment details automatically.
    • A second email is sent once the payment for the deposit has been confirmed.
    • In order to confirm the booking the client need to agree to the Terms & Conditions of booking online.
  • Telephone:
    • During a phone call with a client we used the same online booking system to complete the booking, but from the back end.
    • The main difference is that you need to process the payment manually.
    • You also need to check the client is over 18 (or over 16 and attending with a responsible adult). This is because they don’t have a copy of the Terms & Conditions visible to them at the time of booking.

What information is required to make a booking?

Whether the client books online or on the telephone the following information is required to complete the booking:

  • Appointment type (scan selected)
  • Date of appointment
  • Time of appointment
  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Mobile telephone number
  • Booking source (where did they find us?)
  • Postcode
  • LMP date
  • Any notes that they wish to share

Guidance to be given to mums:

  • If the client will be attending at less than 10 weeks gestation then we need to inform them that national guidelines recommend a trans-vaginal scan. They will be asked for consent on the day but should be prepared for this.
  • If the client will be having a trans-abdominal scan it is important that they attend with a full bladder to improve image quality.
  • Advise the client to consider their clothing choice on the day as a dress will have to be lifted for any scan and pants will need to be removed for a trans-vaginal scan. We of course provide a dignity cover but the right clothing can make the client much more comfortable.
  • Just like Window to the Womb the client may choose to attend by herself or with a number of family member or friends. You can let her know that this is welcomed.
