The scan room must be prepared appropriately with clean sterilised probes, couch roll, gloves.
No music to be present in the scan room.
The chaperone must continue to remain professional in the scan room. Emotions need to be controlled. Small talk may continue with the woman but nothing baby or pregnancy related. All scan assistants must refrain from talking about themselves unless specifically asked by the woman, remember this is her scan not yours.
Sonographers must deliver excellence and professionalism in all realms of care and communication to the woman. They will be performing trans-abdominal and trans-vaginal scans. If a woman refuses an internal scan then that is completely the woman’s choice and as long as she has made an informed decision then that is fine.
The sonographer will complete the scan in accordance with Window to the Womb scan protocols for early pregnancy scans.
At the end of the scan the sonographer will complete the appropriate report using the ultrasound machine.
The sonographer will take one photo & show the woman which picture she will receive in the scan room.
