Lone Person Policy

If a woman arrives at the clinic for her appointment on her own, should we do anything differently? Under normal circumstances the service that we offer to a lone woman would be exactly the same as we would to a woman who is accompanied by family or friends.

If however we identify an abnormality, we expect our clinic team to recognise that the woman is alone and react accordingly. This would include:

  1. Asking the woman if there is anyone that could be called to come and join her.
  2. Spending more time with the woman as she deals with the difficult news.
  3. Helping her to get to her hospital appointment; we would NEVER drive a customer in one of the staff’s cars but we may offer to call a reputable taxi for her.
